Discipleship Training for Church Leaders and Evangelism
We are situated in Soroti town in North-Eastern Uganda, though not really confined to work there only. In the 90s and even now, the rapid numerical growth of the church in this region and most parts of Africa is not reciprocated by the development of church leadership. This poses grave danger of developing pseudo Christian cultist groups. The rapid development of Church leadership to match the growing number of Christian is inhibited by the following factors:
(i)The scarcity of church leadership training facilities
(ii)Low educational levels of potential church leaders. They cannot meet the minimum academic requirement for the few well structured Seminaries and bible colleges
(iii) The few who could probably meet the academic requirement are also unable to meet the related financial obligations in terms of fees and upkeep due to high levels of poverty and
(ix)Due to family and other responsibilities, very few people could be willing to be absent for a long time, say two to three years, as demanded by the program.
For that matter, and in response to the above challenge, Revival Time Ministry developed a suitable training program for church leaders while carefully taking care of the above needs. It is a nineteen-week residential program with four major components and one practical experience stipulated below:
(a)DISCIPLESHIP PROPER: 32 Christian-character development topics
(b) BASIC THEOLOGY: Christian basic doctrines , the Bible and leadership ethics
(c) MISSIONS: Evangelism and church planting
(d) ADMINISTRATION: Basic Human and finance resource management
(e) PRACTICAL EVANGELISTIC OUTREACH: For three weeks outside the classroom setting.
The student utilize our four acres of land to cultivate their own food thus making it quite cheap to run the schools.
Through this program, over 300 full time and effective pastors have been groomed since March 1993. The total output in terms of converts as a result of practical evangelism since we begun in 1993 is 27,800, and 27 local church congregations planted by us and now owned by reputable evangelical and pentecostal churches are quite visible today.
