Prayer Letter December 2019

Dear prayer Partners,

Greetings in Jesus name!
God is doing new and amazing things in our ministry since my recovery from illness. The enemy thought he would cripple God’s work by weakening me physically. More and more doors are opening, not only in Uganda, but beyond.

Yesterday I returned from Kenya where I spoke to 1,400 youths, accompanied with a mighty out pouring of the Holy Spirit. I am running end time series in 2 churches and tomorrow am driving another 3 hours to Tororo town, to talk to about 100 couples. After that, from the 15th to Christmas Eve, I will be running ministry in both Uganda and Kenya.

From 4th January 2020, I will officiate at a wedding in Mbale town. Then, hopefully, my wife and I will fly to South Africa for about 7 days; pray for our visas. One of the pastors was denied a visa to South Africa 2 weeks back.

Basically we need your prayer for my health. Medication is becoming more expensive and I am struggling financially to keep up with medication. We will also need your prayer support for financial provision. Our house now has an extra 12 girls whom we support in various universities and secondary schools. Together with my own children, the number is simply overwhelming. We need sufficient support for groceries, utility bills etc.

And above all, I need 300 US$ before Friday, the 13th of December. I have over 300 guests in my house in Jinja on that day. The girl we supported from senior two to University, Vastine Arinaitwe, (presently our bookkeeper) is getting married that day. I was given permission by her heavily impoverished relatives to give her away in marriage, and will take place in my house in Jinja.

This is the fourth girl in this year, 2019, to complete her university education, graduate, get a job, and get a Godly husband, who takes from their home and church. It is a great honor to God and our ministry as well.

We also have 5 desperate children who need sponsors from January 2020. Pray with us, and if you anyone who might want to assist we shall be very grateful.

THE COMPLEXITY OF PRAYER No. B03-03-19

Today I am tackling a simple but very complex subject, PRAYER. My scriptural reference is in the book of 1 Samual 1:10-16 (She, greatly distressed, prayed to the Lord and wept bitterly—“No my lord , I am a woman oppressed in the spirit—I have poured out my soul before the Lord.”) This story is about effective prayer of a woman deprived off joy, a woman who had a great burden about her situation of childlessness. She had suffered mockery and taunt from her co-wife and others. Hannah was a social misfit. Childlessness can be a real issue even today in many cultures of the world. God heard her and granted her request, she got a son whom God used mightily in Israel.

Prayer is a big challenge, not only in our days, but the day of the Lord Jesus Christ as well. His disciples asked Him to teach them how to pray (Luke 11:1). We know from scripture that only correct prayers receive positive response from God: God only answers prayers within His will. 1 John 5:14. It is quite possible to labor to pray but all in vain. James 4:3

The correct way to go about praying is to have a God instituted burden, not selfishly driven carnal desire; the burden propels the prayer to fervency levels, (James 5:16), unlike casual and emotionless prayer. Hannah had a burden and she prayed fervently. If anyone is truly disciples of Lord Jesus their will is orientated to the Lord’s will, (Phil 2:13), from which come the burdensome need that propels to prayer. The Holy Spirit helps in prayer. (Romans 8:26).

The Bible also tells us about persistence in prayer. But the question is when to stop asking God for an item. The Story of Hannah above gives us the answer to this puzzle. She got the assurance that God had answered her prayer even before the manifestation of pregnancy. (1Samue1:1). The Holy Spirit within us gives the assurance that the prayer has been answered by lifting the burden off our heart. At this point we do not need to ask God again in prayer but wait patiently while thanking Him for the answer though we do not yet see it.That is what the Bible calls faith in Hebrews 11:1.

But if we are not careful, the devil will sow a seed of doubt. Then we withdraw the burden back from God, and the weight returns signifying that we have withdrawn our burden from God, and are trying to manage it ourselves. In this case we waste time giving and withdrawing the burden from God. It happened to me in 1990. I had thoroughly prayed for my marriage’s financial needs and gotten the witness that it was all over; God assured me that He had answered it. Every step related to my marriage proceeded successfully; I experienced one miracle after the other. However, just one week prior to the wedding day, there was no tangible provision. I had only UGX 5,000(USD1,4) out of the total budget of UGX 500,000.The entire wedding committee resigned just 6 days before the D day, because I had only 1% of the overall budget. No one in my marriage committee was willing to share shame with me, so they quit.

I was left alone in a sinking boat; it was a very big mountain: No cakes, no bridal cars, no food, nothing! When I considered the waves, the way Apostle Peter did after attempting to walk on water, the burden returned, driving me back to fast and pray.

Monday, the second day of the wedding week, I was at it again fasting. God literally chased me from the closet where I had locked myself: There came unmistakably audible voice from the Lord in heart saying, “Get up, and go. I have already answered you.” Really? On a Monday and the wedding is on the following Saturday, when you only have 1% of the total budget! But that makes God to be God. Yes, God is a God of the last minute, and thoroughly testing faith. We had an overlap of provision in less than 6 days. We had 2 bridals cars and three service vehicles, enough food,10 cakes etc. All happened within 5 days and without any struggles or debts. 90% came from non-believers and from totally unexpected sources. The means and channels through which answer come is God’s exclusive right.

Another aspect of prayer which has been grossly abused is fasting. Many people think that fasting solicits God’s sympathy and therefore a means to arm-twist God to follow in any direction. This manipulative approach is not biblical. The essence of fasting is humbling before God, consider ones ways and repenting where needs be. It is a critical evaluation of ones conduct towards fellow man. (Isaiah 58:5-6). This is purification which is a prelude to divine authority, In the position of divine authority, the opposing forces such as demons, the flesh etc., are subdued and release of faith is realized. In other words fasting is demonstrating humility in repentance, which at the end releases divine authority and faith.

Lastly, there is also this misconception of altars and other specifically designated prayer places, such as a prayer mountain, prayer gardens etc. There is nothing sinful about having a specific and convenient place and time to pray. The Lord Jesus often met His father in prayer on the mountains at a specific time. The disciples had hours of prayer. But it wrong to believe that outside specific places and time God cannot listen or accept prayer. This is deception and religious bondage from the devil which is taking advantage of amatures in theology. Any believer in Jesus Christ who worships God in the Spirit can be praying anywhere and at anytime. (John 4:24, Roman14:5 and Collosians2;16-18) Amen!

THE POWER OF CHOICE No. B02-03-19

Warm greetings!
I am delighted to bring to you another inspiration and challenge from the word of God in the book of Daniel saying, “But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with King’s Choice food or with the wine that he drank;—————- (Daniel 1:8). What we are today and what we shall be in the future is the summation of the different choices we made and those we will make. Daniel made a choice which seemingly, according to human judgment, was foolishness.

How can you punish yourself by denying yourself enjoyment and fun? Others who made such unpopular choices according to human perception, were Moses who willingly stripped himself off the privileges of a princes in pharaohs kingdom, (Hebrews11:23-24), Joseph rejecting the opportunities for sexual pleasure with his master’s wife, (Genesis 39:7-9), Jesus Christ rejecting an offer from the devil to take a short cut to rule the nations of this world without going through the pain and shame of the cross, (Luke 4:5-8), and not forgetting the four lepers at the gate of Samaria who risked their lives to go outside the gate to the enemy territory in search of food, ( 2Kings 7:3-5).

Bad choices are governed by attraction of superficial and short term benefits. The Long term impact of bad choice is always disastrous and irreversible. On the other hand a good choice is always less popular and probably dull or even boring, but at the end it pays.

Taking Jesus Christ as a personal savior and Lord is the master key around which all the right choices revolve. Before taking the human flesh to be man, Jesus Christ was known in Heaven as the “Word of God”. Today we have also the same word in a written form. The written Word is the principle guide to our choices, ”your word is lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Psalms 119:105).

Another help available to man in making the right choices is use of the renewed mind (Roman 12:2). A renewed mind is the mind completely overhauled by Holy the Spirit, with new set of values and direction away from the world. It is the mind not governed by the dictates of the flesh. The renewed mind evaluates thing in the light of Scripture and the intuition of the Holy Spirit. Such response is practically impossible for any carnal-minded person who is not in Christ. It is one thing to claim to be born again, but is totally a different thing to be among the flock govern by the administration of Jesus Christ. For God knows those who are truly His (2Timothy 2:19).

Finally, to arrive at a sustainable decision, it is advisable to make various consultation with reputable people across the board. (Proverbs 11:14; Proverbs 15:22). Here, caution is absolutely necessary: There are inexperienced counselors who tend to overrun the will of the counselee. The counselor only gives guidance and amplifies various options; the sole choice is made by the counselee in his or her privacy, Amen! Rev. Isaac Peter Oyako

SAMSON’S RIDDLE: B01-03-19

My Dear Beloved,

May I open this platform by sharing a word of God from Judges 14:14,saying “….out of the one who eats came something to eat; out of the strong came something sweet.” This was a riddle by Samson following the attack from the Lion and its outcome, as he went to make a marriage proposal.

Naturally no one loves difficulties and challenging circumstances; we all tend to try and avoid hard times in life as much as possible. But how does God view hard times? Trying moments in our life is a tutorial which God uses not only to reveal Himself to us, but build a character in us which is more valuable to God than our service to Him. James, the first Pastor of Jerusalem Church told the church to always count it Joy whenever he or she is going through tough times James 1:2.

History tell us that men of purpose who have left positive and strong legacies such as Moses, Joseph, David, apostle Paul, prophet Isaiah, etc., went through difficulties orchestrated by God Himself. While in furnace of affliction, (Isaiah 48:10), they could not understand the purpose of God. Later on, they appreciate it as David put it, “It is good that I was afflicted that I may know the statutes of the Lord. ( Ps119:71).

My dear beloved children, unless God brings you to an end of yourself, known in Scripture as, “wits end.’ (Ps 107:27), you have no portion in the Lord’s ministry; it is a play of superficial religious activity. We must be hardened soldiers, not ordinary men and women who largely invest in leisure, fun and comfort.

Trials can take any form and shape: It can be a let down by family and friends, disappointment from spouse or spouse to be, financial hardships, persistent ailment, etc. Please, know that you are in the military college. You must aim at graduating without laps of retakes. Your challenge is simply a ladder to take to a higher ground.

Relax, and let the Lord have His way. (Ps37:4-7) Give Him full access to your life and future. He is almighty and omniscience God: He loves you as though you are the only one on the planet earth. You no longer belong to yourself but to the Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:15) Count yourself lucky and worthy to be trusted with trials to the shame of the devil. Amen!

The 2013 Vision Coming to Pass in 2019

Dear friends and prayer partners,

Greetings and welcome to year 2019!

Some time in April 2013, at exactly 5:00 am, the Lord Jesus Christ appeared to me very clearly in a vision, not a dream as I was seated outside the main house, praying: I was approaching a long gate opening to a well-secured to something, I assumed was a building. The gate and the perimeter wall were high so I could not see any buildings behind the gate.There was a well paved road divided into 6 well marked lanes leading to that closed gate. On the right hand side of the gate stood a watchman who turned out to be the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.

As I approached the gate, I did not follow a particular lane but crossed from lane to lane. The watchman, or gate-keeper, who turned out to be the Lord, reprimanded me for crisscrossing lanes without sticking to one lane. He opened the gate,and to my surprise, the was no building but narrow bushy foot path overgrown with grass and roaring river beneath. It was unstable bridge path. Bellow the foot path was mighty rushing river water too dangerous for life.As I took each step , the path shook threatening to be collapsing into mighty rushing waters beneath.

I was scared stiff, but the gate keeper led the way, walking confidently. When He noticed fear in me, He simply advised me not to look on the sides or focus on the scary sight and sound of rushing water beneath,but straight on him. The destination seem very far off, the road had hills and valley sand meandered left and right.

It was last year, 2018, when I clearly understood that this meant that the going was getting rougher and turbulent in ministry. It is also the year that I felt the Lord wanted me to do only what He wanted me to do, not other many nice things around me. It was the year that we realized a profound impact in the lives of university and tertiary institutions students. Our Single lane (Mandate) is teach the body of Christ and prepare them for the rapture. A standard of holiness depicting a saint; a candidate for a meeting with the Lord Jesus Christ in the skies is the ultimate goal of our mission.

It is a very unpopular gospel: People are comfortable with prosperity, healing and anything else, but not repentance. Both inside and outside the church the message of repentance is not palatable to the ears. The enemy has equally responded by trying to block this. There is no year, apart from 2018, when we lost three sponsors, creating a huge administrative shortfall. I do not remember ever taking a car out on mission with insufficient gas and funds only to run out of power at 1:00 am, and sleeping on road side, apart from 2018. There is no year when any of my children stayed out of school because of lac of fees, apart from last year, 2018, when our fourth child, Caleb, stayed home and he is still at home. The enemy has often tried to divert my attention outside the main course, but I remember the the vision.

This afternoon I will be speaking in the biggest Nursing School in Jinja about the ” Grace,” and “Christian responsibility.” This is the most contentious issue right now here. People, especially the youth, believe the dispensation of Grace gives them the liberty to indulge in reckless living.

We have a tight program up to June 5th, covering over 10 districts of Uganda. We going to various churches, universities and tertiary institutions. So pray with us for sound health, protection from accidents, and provision for gas and car maintenance.

Also, pray for my son to go to school as soon as possible. He needs one off USD 2,000 for PPL (Private Pilot License) in Nairobi, Kenya. The rest are minor and we can handle as a family.

Thank you very much, we have often remembered every one in this list. We now have special missions account for travel, car maintenance, and sometimes support for poor young children we meet in churches. Any contribution is welcome as the Lord leads.
