The Will of God Church - led by a woman, Nalongo

The Will of God Church was pioneered and led by a wonderful sister popularly known as Nalongo. As young women, she married properly, and together with her husband, founded the Will of God Church in Mbiko. As time went by, her husband backslid, and started drinking alcohol and running after other women. Sister Nalongo was heart-broken, but did not abandoned the ministry which had grown to over 500 people.

As though that was not enough, the some prominent male members of the church did not welcome the leadership of female in the church. She faced even tougher challenges. One day, she happened on the book written by Pastor Isaac Peter Oyako, the "Discipleship Teaching Manual," and sought to meet the author in person. Christine and Isaac Oyako have stood to support and encourage Pastor Nalongo. RTM has had an excellent partnership with the Will of God church for many years now.

Pastor Oyako has been talking intimately with the husband of pastor Nalongo, to consider that he be restored to grace. He is positive, though no step yet taken. Pastor Nalongo has forgiven him and welcomed him back home.

This church has no external funder and it is now constructing a church building with two floors (storey building). Many times it supported Pastor Isaac's trips including preparations for a trip to Israel in 2009.

A variety of topics were explored, including: "Hearing the Voice of God," "perspective on dreams," "The woman's role as a wife, a mother and a minister."

The church was full of people, mainly women. It was an evening seminar from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm every day. The Will of God Church is about 30 minutes from my house in Bugembe in Jinja.

People who attended gave testimonies how God had changed their lives. Many sisters whose marriages were 'on the rocks' identified the parts they played in worsening marital relationships.

However, as usual the church was concerned about the speaker's needs. They raised support worth US $ 50 in cash for pastor Isaac's ailing grandfather, Mr. Palasiko Epongu, 93 years. Uganda does not have any government program for the elderly. Pastor Isaac providing food and health care for him. He lives in an abject poverty.

Mr. Epongu has written an open will to grant Pastor Isaac all his land. The grandfather chose Pastor Isaac among the 33 other grandchildren.

My grandfather, Mr. Palasiko Epongu is seated in this photo, in front of his hut with great grandchildren who had come to see him. Next to him is his daughter Jenita, 72, my Aunt.

The Will of God Church is praying for me to be able to build for my grandfather a decent house before he dies. My grandfather chose me, among the 33 grandchildren, to give me an inheritance of his property (5 acres of land). It is a blessing from God. The land is fertile and is busy with bush growth, actually a thicket of trees.

The brush growth on the land

My grandfather's land, which was officially given to me. It is full of bush and overgrown trees. It borders my father's land on the south and east, and the retired Anglican Bishop, Rev. Dr. Charles Obaikol on the West.
