Bethel Pentecostal Church
Mayuge District -8th -10th July 2011

Pastor Isaac and his wife Christine were invited for the couples' seminar. 25 couples attended every day. Christine was one the main speakers, alongside her husband, Pastor Isaac Peter Oyako.

She spoke powerfully about women supporting their husbands in the ministry. She also talked about voluntary submission of women to their husbands, and to be a backup force.

She challenged men to develop friendship their wives.

The impact was great; husbands and wives confessed issues and restored their fellowship with each other. A pastor who had had a secret affair with a widow came forward in repentance. However, it was a big shock to his wife to learn of it for the first time.

Pastor Sowedi, a Muslim convert, founded and pastors Bethel Christian fellowship in Mayuge district. He was thrown out from his biological family after he denounced Islam and embraced Jesus Christ. He was nurtured by an indigenous fellowship and was introduced to contacts from the UK who sponsored him through Theological training.

Pastor Sowedi's church is well balanced doctrinally, and is also rapidly growing. However, he faced challenges from his mother church, especially when his Bible college sponsors also built for him and his wife, a powerful house.

Pastor Isaac has been available to encourage him in the new course of ministry that he pioneered at the same time encouraging him to maintain relationship with the leadership of the church that helped him in difficult times.

Christian speaking to couples about life in ministry

As a result of growing intimacy, Pastor Sowedi invited Pastor Isaac and His wife to share with couples in his church. 25 couples attended every day. Christine was the main speaker, along side her husband Pastor Isaac Peter Oyako.

Christine Oyako ministered boldly to the couples in the meeting in Mayuge on 10th July 2011. She spoke powerfully about women supporting their husbands in the ministry. She also talked about voluntary submission of women to their husbands, and to play a backup force in all challenges. She challenged men to develop friendship with their wives as the only way to show solidarity in marriage.

Christine ministering to the couples

The impact was great; husbands and wives shared freely about issues related to extended families, finances, absentee husbands, sexual related issues etc. The outright breaking families were restored. There was emotional show in some couples as they restored their fellowship with each other.

One of the church leaders who had had a secret affair with a widow was greatly convicted and voluntarily came forth in repentance. However, it was a big shock to his wife to learn of it for the first time, and we believe was the turning point in his spiritual life.
