Songs of Joy in Sunrises and Sunsets

Psalm 65:8,13 "Those living far away fear your wonders; where morning dawns and evening fades you call forth songs of joy. The meadows are covered with flocks and the valleys are mantled with grain; they shout for joy and sing."

A song of praise, that's what this whole Psalm is. In it David praises God for salvation and answered prayers, being brought into fellowship with God in the courts of His temple.

David describes some of the most awesome aspects of creation; the mountains and the seas praise God with their majestic views and sounds - and then, on the far horizon, where we see sunrises and sunsets (where morning dawns and evening fades), there is a beauty that just cries out songs of praise.

The glorious views praise God, but it is also intended to draw out gasps and songs of joy from us!>

He goes on to describe the cultivated fields and how God waters them with showers of rain, and blesses the people with bountiful crops, so that the fields overflow with grain, and the meadows are covered with flocks of animals.

Have you ever seen such views? Don't they just make your heart leap with confidence that there is a God, and a perfectly good one, who proves it with abundance growing before our very eyes?

Anyone with an eye for beauty and any measure of faith in God, and that He exists, should find his or her heart swelling up with praise and admiration to God. This is true whether you live by the seas, or in the majestic mountains, or on the prairie wheatlands.

PRAYER: Yes, Lord God, You are a fantastic Creator. However, above and beyond that, when I consider how Jesus the Christ suffered and died for me, and then rose again, victor over death and sin on my behalf, wow, then I have a hundred times more reason to praise and worship You! My life should glorify You even more than a beautiful sunrise or sunset. I wish it did!
