Shouting for Sheer Joy

Psalm 27:5-6 "For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock. Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD."

This whole Psalm is one of praising God while in a tight corner with one's enemies.

With the LORD as my light and salvation, and stronghold, who is there to be afraid of? Though an army comes, war breaks out and the day of trouble comes, the Psalmist - and I - can be confident that God is looking after us, fighting for us, and keeping us safe. He hides us in His tabernacle and sets us up on a rock.

There we can lift our head up high, for God will exalt us, so that we are above our enemies who surround us, not down amongst them. That's when we can go into the tabernacle and make sacrifices to our God with shouts of joy. We can sing and make music to the LORD.

How about me personally? Is this true for me? Or for you? What are we waiting for? Let's start praising our LORD God.

PRAYER: You, LORD, are my light, salvation and stronghold too! I haven't been through a world war like the generation before me, just a few personal problems that appear to be overwhelming. I have a bit of practice in crying out to You in panic prayers, and finding that You are there for me, ready to rescue and help me.

I think I need to work towards that retreat time with You I was wondering about. I need to find ways to praise and worship You, LORD God. I don't do enough of that.

This week I've been noticing improvements in my health, and my ability to wake up at the alarm clock's call, and my mind seems to be clearer. I have plenty of reasons to be shouting for joy!
