Joy in Victories and Answered Prayers

Psalm 21:1-2 & 6 "Oh LORD, the king rejoices in your strength. How great is his joy in the victories you give! You have granted him the desire of his heart and have not withheld the request of his lips. . . . Surely you have granted him eternal blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence.

This is another lovely Psalm in which David testifies of, and praises God for His great goodness to him. David enumerates some of the ways God has blessed him, speaking in the third person about himself as the king.

If we can identify with the king, I'm sure many of us can turn this into our own Psalm of praise. I know I can.

I know I rejoice in the strength the Lord provides, for my own comes so short. I do have great joy in the victories the Lord gives me, and I know He has granted a number of the desires of my heart, and answered my prayers.

The crown of pure gold and the splendor and majesty of verses 3 and 5 may be specific to David as a king, but we can spiritualize those to blessings we have in God's presence.

I don't recall ever asking for a long life, but I am grateful for the length God has given me so far, and I do believe He grants me eternal blessings and makes me glad just by being with me all day long and especially when in prayer.

Like David, I trust in the Lord, and through His unfailing love I know I will not be shaken. For every victory I get, every advance I make in my Christian life, I give credit and glory to our LORD God.

PRAYER: That is true, dear Lord Jesus! Every success, however small or great, I give You praise for - I see it as coming from You. You have been answering my prayers left and right, and blessing me even with things I didn't think to ask for! You treat me like Your royal daughter in Heaven, and convince me I am. Wow!
