July 2011

Today I got the third inquiry from friends as to why our news updates went silent since April. It's a welcome concern from prayer partners and friends.

Going off news (incommunicado) was a deliberate move to give time for us to see clearly where we were heading to in terms of our services to God and communities around us. Though, we did not warn in advance, we were certain that by end of July, we would resume.

Otherwise, nothing went wrong as such, apart from the struggles which you all are aware of. Meanwhile, the major change was that I saw it fitting that I drop out from coordinating our Local church, Faith Mission of Uganda, social development projects, and to concentrate mainly on the ministry of the word under Revival Time Ministry, and probably lighter needs of the very poor people in society such as widows and orphans.

I dropped out from local church related development projects around end of April, after being fully convinced that my time in that field was over. I took some time praying and giving room for the Holy Spirit to minister to me, and to us as a family. Finally we were all were fully persuaded that the way to go is "Teach the Word," "Write books" and "pray and intercede." I see the grace and the weight of God in this line.

From the beginning of July, I have embarked on ministry. I came back yesterday and tomorrow I will be out again. My entire July is booked. I do teach in leaders' and general church conferences and seminars. I also administer Christian Counseling and healing by the Grace of God . I feel very comfortable with lots of freedom in this ministry and the ministry of the word. You may see a couple of pictures taken recently, all are less than 10 days old. (Photos above: at Miracle Center Church, Mamuli, July 2-3, 2011)

I am also a student in "Christian Leadership University" pursuing masters Degree in Biblical Studies after a bachelors Degree in Ministry. My study opened my eyes to ascertain the will of God for me. We are fully persuaded that the struggles we met would be history.

Prayer Points:

(i) I need an income and support for travels i.e. fuel and transport related costs. My old Suzuki vehicle needs some service.

(ii) My first child, Liz Atai Oyako is starting University this fall. She needs fees. We are helping five needy children; three are doing university education while two are doing secondary education. It is complicated to help other children who live in the same house with you and fail to help your own children.

(iii) Pray for us to connect electricity into our house. We are using cell phone lights to study the Bible (for family altar).

The Widow, Aida Katube

widow, Aida, 65 needs help to raise 8 children

Pray for Widow Aida 65, who kept us in her house during the leaders' revival Conference in Kamuli recently. This widow actually has nothing to live on. She has constructed a facility to raise rare birds by faith. She has 8 children under her care. She is the eldest wife of her late husband who passed a way as a result of HIV/AIDS.

The other younger women fled, and probably got concubined elsewhere, leaving this elderly woman with a burden of bringing up younger children (9 to 16 years). Besides that she is an HIV/AIDS victim. In spite of this, she loves the Lord, spending her time praying and serving God.

We are praying that we/someone may help her fulfill her dream of an income generating activity. She needs about GPB 300 to kick-start this project with 200 birds with the projected monthly income (profit) of GBP 75.

Our Testimony

It is good to give God glory for what He is doing for us. This will encourage others too. As soon as my wife and I agreed to seek God together over the new direction, God begun to open the flood gates for us to come out of debt. We received unexpectedly now US$ 1,700 undesignated in less than a month. This goes to pay debts we had accumulated as a result of my wife's accident and school fees for our children. We had a debt of US $ 8,000 at the end of May, but now it only US 6,200.

January 2011

The big news is that my wife Christine is now able walk slowly and she will resume work on 16th February 2011. She will not be able to use a public transport for some time: I have either to be available to take her to work or rent a driver to do that whenever I am out of Jinja.

The second good news is that our second child, Cyrus Oyako, performed very well in international Cambridge provisional examinations. A friend called me from Kampala to congratulate me after reading his name displayed in the Daily newsletter. Cyrus passed Mathematics, Physics and Economics very well. Our son is very ambitious. He is determined to be an Aerospace Engineer. We do not have such programs in East Africa. I do not know what is next after July. He has special interest in Canadian Universities.I have no idea of what that means. We had a big fight when my son decided on an international cirriculum, which was too expensive.

Our first child, Liz may join University this year in July. We are waiting for the out come of the examination she did in November/December last year. Having two children starting University at the same time is a challenge for us, but our Lord is able.

Last year was a very difficult year for us as a family. I am still wondering why God allowed us to pass through such storms. It now coming to one year when we do not have electricity and running water in the house.

In spite of the challenges, we are determine to wait on the Lord like never before. It is possible that I could have run a head of God or deviated from the Principal call of my life. Although, I do not have direct communication from God, anything is possible. I am not dropping any tasks at the moment or taking on new ones, except Master Degree program till God speaks to me directly. He promised to instruct us on the way that we may go (Psalms 32:8-9). I will remain faithful in the present tasks while seeking God for any possible adjustments.

Finally , pray with us on the issue of direction, victory, fees and protection. Pray for Uganda too. On 18th Feb. we are going to polls to elect the President. The campaigns are relatively peaceful but it is tight.

I have been on prayer leave for three weeks. I will resume work on Tuesday 1st February 2011. Sylvia is doing well. she is back to school for the last semester year one. I hope to start my Masters degree program in June 2011. I am deciding between Master of Bilical Studies and Master of Church Leadership.
