The Family News 2010
Isaac & Christine Oyako

Dear Friends,

Our hearts are bursting with gratitude to God first, and to you, who have been praying with us.

We also do get news updates and prayer requests from various corners including from some of you. We know the importance of upholding each other before the Lord in prayer. It is Biblical practice that the saints pray one for another. Peter was saved because of the prayers other saints.

I recall, we received an urgent letter about a dying friend in India. Our friend was in a dying state, moreover in an intensive Care Unit with high levels of blood sugar and unconscious.

Dr. John Paul is so dear to us, and we did not want him to just die prematurely. Revival Time Ministry land in Soroti was obtained through funding that came from Dr. John Paul. He is the only Indian who has managed to come to Soroti and held enormous international conference under Revival Time Ministry. We love him though we do not hear from him regularly.

My wife and I immediately declared fasting prayer, pleading with God to give Dr. John Paul another lease of life to serve Him. I am sure many others around the world could have been praying too. Our prayer force added to other prayers, and Dr. John Paul was saved and he is alive. I told God I would like meet Dr. John Paul here on earth first before we could have another fellowship in Heaven. I know that will happen soon.

In a similar way, my wife's life was spared and she is improving. Christine can now use crutches to hope around the house. She cannot go out of the house yet, or use toilet facility outside the house. We will be taking her for review on Tuesday 30th November. That means we have to clear the outstanding bill. God is faithful and will meet that need as well.

Christine in living room with cast on her leg

Had it not been because of a net work of praying friends, some one from my family could have been with the Lord already this year! Or perhaps the worst tragedy could have struck to my family.

Christine, the day she was abducted but got away

In this year alone, we were involved in 4 accidents and survived 5 crises. My wife nearly got abducted early this year as she went to work using a commuter taxi. She lost the school fees in her wallet, a phone and all documents.

Not far from there, a government vehicle carelessly rammed on my Suzuki in Kampala. The front part was shuttered beyond recognition. My wife and I were in the car driving slowly in the time of accident.

Some time in July, I was having a leisure drive with my last son, Joash, in Jinja, when a truck loaded with bricks failed to brake and smashed into our Suzuki and destroyed it. But Joash and I came out unhurt, just like my wife and I came out untouched.

I missed running down a child by a whisker, just last week. I was going for prayers in a prayer garden, when a child suddenly jumped into the road as they were playing by side of the highway. I was driving at 80kms per hour, but saved the child without loosing control.

A week before that, before the chills, I missed hitting a man by a fraction of a second in Kampala. I was with my son, Cyrus Oyako in the car. We got down and just thanked God!

When I was driving from Kitgum, the day my wife got into that serious accident, I survived two accidents myself. They could have been more serious or even fatal: It was dark and I saw at a short range, that the river had burst its banks and swept off with the bridge. I had to drive back and made a curved detour of about 50 miles to connect to a distance of 5 Kms. On that same day, a trailer truck had gotten spoiled in the middle of the road, just 18 Kms from Lira. I was able to identify the object and stopped. In all these, God helped us.

In spite of these sad incidences, we have enjoyed the blessings of the Lord also. All the children have come back home for holidays. They have all passed to the next stage and no fees demands (over-due).

Liz Atai Oyako

Our only daughter and our first child, Liz Atai, (18) is writing her last paper on Wednesday, 1st December 2010. She will then wait to start University in August next year.

Our second child, Cyrus has completed the first stage of Cambridge Examination. He is doing his internship in Soroti with East African Civil Aviation Training Institute. Cyrus's dream is to study Aero-space engineering in Malaysia or South Africa next year. Pray for him to qualify for a scholarship.

Isaac and Christine Oyako - celebrating 20th anniversary of a happy marriage

We have also enjoyed a steady marital relationship for now 20 years. Christine and I are a team that God planned! Despite ups and downs, we have stood with each other shoulder-to-shoulder. God has been using us to counsel struggling couples. Our prayer request is that we continue in that way and our children continue in the ways of the Lord.

Pray for us to get our house completed .We still do not have electricity and running water. The house is not plastered as well. We miss news; cold water from the fridge, etc. Charging phones is a nightmare. My wife in her condition cannot use outside pit latrine, but uses a bucket. It is very difficult situation for her, and for me too.

P.S. Pastor Isaac has added a note of his wife, Christine's progress to the Nov/2010 Newsletter:

I was excited when I went home briefly duriing lunch time. My wife was seated at the verandah reading her Bible for the first time since October 9! She used crutches to get out from her sick bed. My son, Cyrus, described the journey of about 7 meters which took 15 minutes. She was resting. Then she visited our bedroom also for the first time!

These are steps in the right direction. I hope when we go for review on 30th November it will be positive. I will give general update to all our prayer partners about my wife's health on the 1st December.

Christine in hospital after her accident

Christine in an Accident!

Last weekend Pastor Isaac wrote that while he was preaching in Kitgum he got word that Christine, his dear wife, had been in an auto accident and was in hospital. He drove anxiously through the night to get there and find out her condition. After a few days he sent this short report;

I would like to thank every one for praying with us. I got the news of my wife’s accident when I was in Kitgum.News came in such a terrifying manner that I could not do anything more except to travel. Even as I drove, I was so worried of the possible sad new .By God’s Grace I drove alone for 15 hours to get to the hospital in Kampala.

My wife stable, and I am sure out of danger. Only she is badly injured and may take couple of weeks under medical examination. She broke her leg completely, the chest and the mouth has injuries. She is in great pain, but out of danger. I think she blacked out after the impact and also in great shock.

When I saw the X-ray of my wife’s broken leg bones and immense pain she was in, I nearly broke down. I asked God the reason why I have had continuous difficulties. But I realized that we are under strong attack by enemy whose mission is to obliterate and discourage the advances I am making towards the Kingdom of God. My wife Christine is a very strong ally in the ministry. The enemy wants to destroy her first. This the 4th attempt the devil has tried against my wife.

I requested that my wife be transferred to Jinja where I can closely attend to her in a private clinic. She is transferred to Jinja attached to Islamic Clinic where Dr. Odongo Charles is fully responsible for her healing. It also appears that I may not travel any where far for but attend to my wife. This painful but God allowed it.

It clear that we have entered into financial pit that may necessitate entering into debt to pay off the medical bills. Already we are in great money difficulties, and another big expense has come our way unexpected. It amazing that God’s love for us is great and is being shown in a reverse way.Let God have his way. Pray that the continues to give us peace and Joyeven in the middle of storms.

This would be an excellent time to show your concern and love by sending a gift. If you have not done this before, you may use the new Partner with Our Ministry page. Just make a point of noting with your PayPal donation that this is for the Oyako family's needs first, rather than the ministry. If that is your wish.
