Revival Time Ministry - Uganda & Beyond

Year 2009 Planned Projects

Revival Time Ministry has prayerfully planned the activities below for year 2009:

Project 1: To expand the girl-child support scheme from the current 12 to 50. North and Eastern Uganda has had a prolonged conflict, and as a result poverty and HIV/AIDS have wrecking havoc in this region more than any other region in Uganda.

Girl children have borne the greatest brunt of this senseless conflict. Many are forced into early marriage against their own will. Others are forced to sell sex for survival. Those affected are mainly children headed households.

Provision of secondary education is a step forward to a better future. It now takes a bout US $35 a month for each teenage girl to have hopes for a decent future: We have 38 girls urgently on our waiting list for next year 2009.

Project 2: Equipping Rural Pastors in administration and management skills. Rural churches are blossoming in numbers, active praise and worship of God and Bible skills. However, there are weaknesses related to management of resources and has hampered growth. It takes US $ 400 or GBP£ 250 for each rural church leader to acquire the relevant skills in six months.

We have planned to reopen our base in Soroti from February 2009 for rural pastors to learn leadership and management skills. Our capacity at the moment is 25 residing people in our base in Soroti. We shall have 25 people for 10 days each month for 5 months. The course is designed to give basic administrative and management skills including elementary Information Technology. The course units have been designed by SEEDCON consultants in Soroti.Revival Time Ministry shall work in partnership with SEEDCON to achieve that goal. The application forms and course details can be obtained in our offices in Soroti and Jinja after Christmas 2008. Deadlines for applicants are 19th January and 23rd June 2009 for the first and the second school respectively.

Project 3: Tree planting and Environmental awareness campaign is top in our agenda for year 2009. From year 2006, the Teso sub region has been constantly experiencing hostile climatic changes. Excess rains leading to flooding, extensive drought and unpredictable weather patterns have become common phenomenon in this region. This is attributed to indiscriminate cutting of trees for charcoal burning and fire wood. Over 95% of the population here depends on a tree as a source of fuel.

We have planned residential seminars teaching people the ecological and economic importance of a tree and it's preservation. Other key issues to be tackled include waste management and disposals (both degradable and none degradable). We also plan to secure and distribute tree loans in terms of seedlings beginning with women groups in Wera and Abarilela in Amuria district. We had this project before, and would like to revive it.

Project 4: Church and school ministry. We plan to continue with rural church training in form of seminars. We do that in partnership with established local churches such as Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG), Faith Mission of Uganda and many others who have enjoyed partnership with us for many years.

We have planned to revive the partnership and invest in building leadership capacity in the 10 schools with which we enjoyed fruitful partnership many years ago. We have planned four week-end leadership training for Scripture Union leaders in each of the 10 schools. Besides leadership development, we planned to stimulate a deeper student-teacher fellowship.

This will not necessitate additional staff. We shall work with dedicated volunteers among the teaching staff in these schools to reach one another. We shall provide the motivation as well as additional skills for the teachers. There is a planned workshop for identified teachers in early February 2009.
